Transportation
Private Transportation
During your stay in the UAE, many hotels or resorts would be happy to set you up with a limo and driver. Most of the time, these trips towards Jebel Jais last from a few hours to a whole day.
TAXI
There are two taxi companies in Ras al-Khaimah. Cabs from Al Hamra and Al Arabia. The government of Ras Al Khaimah has given both businesses licenses, and all drivers will have photo ID badges. Taxis have excellent climate control and have to follow strict safety rules. All chauffeurs speak English very well. If you don’t stay in Ras Al Khaimah, you’ll have to take a taxi, which is available differently in each Emirate.
Routine Travelers On Land Cruisers
Suppose you want to go off-roading before you get to the mountains. In that case, you can hire a premium 4×4 car with a driver for a half day or a full day from several reputable tour companies. For reservations, you should call the concierge at your hotel.
Jebel Jais Observation Deck Park
From sea level, the moon-like landscapes of the desert and the empty, stony wadis will show you the way. Walking through huge rocks, rocky down-at-heel terrain, and empty towns with date palm oases is a beautiful experience.
When you reach the top of the beautiful climb to the Jebel Jais Viewing Deck Park, you will be 1,250 meters above sea level and about 30 kilometers into the heart of the mountains. This mountain range took shape over 70 million years ago, and now it is full of history, mystery, and power.
Good roads make it easy and safe for cars, 4x4s, motorcycles, and bicycles to get around. Beautiful rocks, canyons, and reddish, empty places are along the hairpin route. The best place to look out over the Hajar Mountains, the Arabian Gulf, and the rolling desert is from the highest observation platform, which is not far from the peak.
The park is on a ridge and has seven observation platforms with 12 powerful binoculars that look out over beautiful views. This makes it an excellent place for people who want peace and quiet. On one side, you can see date wadis, towns, and the Arabian Gulf. On the other side, you can see steep slopes and clouds on top of peaks.
At the Jebel Jais Viewing Deck Park, you can find both Puro Express and Muse Café. Both are open all day and serve great coffee and food. In line with sustainable tourism practices, all of the lights in the park come from the sun.
Jebel Jais; The First Place For Hiking In UAE
This once-in-a-lifetime event takes place on the United Arab Emirates (UAE) longest-developed hiking trail on Jebel Jais. Adventurers invite to immerse themselves in the beautiful scenery of Ras Al Khaimah’s rugged mountain landscape. From Wadi Ghalilah to Shimal, runners will follow well-marked trails. More than half of the course is off-trail, giving them access to places that have never been open to the public.
High-stakes explorers can choose a 55-kilometer trek that takes three days and a 30-kilometer trek that takes two days. Both routes require them to be self-sufficient. Any way a hiker goes, they will face a physical challenge and learn more about nature, making them feel calmer in all parts of their being.
From Wadi Ghalilah to Shimal, runners will follow marked paths. More than half of the tracks are off-trail and give runners access to areas that haven’t been accessible before. After a day of trekking, people can relax by sitting around the campfire and talking about what they did. The next day, they can move on to the next stage.
Hikers will spend their second-night camping in the village of a mountain tribe. There, they will serve a cultural show that includes a dance performance, a famous tribal call, live heritage music, the making of Luqaimat and Regag Bread, and a traditional meal cooked by families from Jebel Jais.
Hikers can make their experience at Jebel Jais even more memorable by getting there a day early and staying at one of the hotels in the Emirate (Citymax, Hilton Garden Inn, or Hilton Resort & Spa). All hikers should preserve the natural environment and plan to leave behind little more than their footprints and photos of the beautiful scenery along the trail.
The Jebel Jais Ropes Course
After an hour on the two-story rope and bridge course at the Jais Ropes Course, your knees will feel like they are on fire. You’ll have to solve problems on a massive climbing structure that looks like it’s floating in the air.
The Jebel Jais Ropes Course is a 10-meter-high course with obstacles people must overcome independently. There are rope swings, a skinny bicycle link, wobbly bridges, balancing stands, swinging loops, and crawl tunnels on the playground. On the first floor, kids as young as six can enjoy the thrill of exploring, and people of legal age can find their way through the complicated maze on the second floor.
