If you’re a fan of the classic TV show Ghostbusters, you’ll love the new line of toys from Hasbro. With several waves of toys coming out in November, there’s sure to be something for everyone. There’s Slimer 68-R, Ecto-Plazms, and Meanie Wienie Ghost, to name a few.
Kenner’s Real Ghostbusters line
The Real Ghostbusters toy line is a continuation of the popular comics starring Peter Venkman. In the United States, Real Ghostbusters comics were published by NOW Comics, while in the United Kingdom, they were published by Marvel Comics. A toy line based on the comic was produced by Kenner.
The first release in the line was the Real Ghostbusters Play-Doh set, which was included in the Play-Doh Fun Factory. Other releases of the series were made by Kenner in the United Kingdom and the United States, with some lines being imported into other countries.
The Real Ghostbusters toy line featured cartoon characters that were utterly ridiculous. Now, Hasbro has resurrected the line, including the iconic Ecto-Popper and some of the series’ ghosts.
Slimer 68-R
If you’re a fan of the Ghostbusters, you may have come across the Slimer 68-R ghostbusters toy. This toy is based on the slimy, non-terminal phantom from the first film. It’s shaped like a pizza wheel, and it even comes with a blade you can take off to clean it. The Slimer 68-R toy is packaged in a full-color window box with instructions and artwork.
The slime-like appearance of the Green Ghost is based on the cartoon. The toy was introduced with a sticker of Green Ghost on the packaging, and it was available in the second volume of the cartoon. The Green Ghost had three print runs in 1986 and 1987, and it is currently scheduled for a reissue in 2020 by Hasbro. Other toys in the Real Ghostbusters line include The Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man, the H2 Ghost, and the Bug-Eye Ghost.
Ecto-Plazms
The Ecto-Plazm is one of the toys from the popular Ghostbusters series. It’s an ectoplasm squirting toy that comes with a mystery ghost figure. This toy can be purchased at most major retailers nationwide.
There are different types of Ecto-Plazms that Ghostbusters encounter. The standard ectoplasm is not observable by the naked eye and requires a no-contact protocol. However, ghosts often leave behind ectoplasmic residue, which can be picked up by a P.K.E.-enhanced Paragoggle. This residue is a faint trail of ghostly breadcrumbs, and can be used to identify areas of paranormal activity.
Meanie Wienie Ghost
To enter the world of ghosts, the Ghostbusters needed to wear special space suits. These costumes gave them extraordinary abilities. Their green and blue space suit has a face and head that drops down into their chest. One of their companion ghost characters is Meanie Weenie, who carries a weapon with great power.
The Real Ghostbusters toy line was introduced by Kenner in the eighties. These toys were inspired by the hit animated series of the same name. This line of toys gave the toy designers free reign to come up with some of the more innovative ghosts. In the end, the toys were among the most popular toys of the 80s.
Soar Throat Ghost
There were several sets of Ghostbusters toys released in the market. One of them was the Soar Throat Ghost, which bites the Hero Figure. Another one was the Real Ghostbusters Heroes, which featured flashy outfits and weapons. The set also had a companion ghost. The neckties were fragile and the set was available in all the major markets. It was also the only version of the Ghostbusters with Egon Spengler.
The Real Ghostbusters toys line was also popular in the eighties. This line of Ghostbusters toys was a creative addition to the toy line. It featured a variety of ghost-trapping items, including proton packs and ghost traps.
